The Carbon Page
As Joe Huffaker once told me, put the prefix "race" and "carbon fiber" in the name of anything and people will pay big bucks for it. That may be true, but, Carbon Fiber is truly an amazing media to work with.
So here's the issue with the Fiberglass hoods, the shape of the hood is too flat without ribbing to be made in Fiberglass. So the only way to make one stiff is to add material to the point of being too heavy. I have made several combination Carbon and Fiberglass hand layup units that work well, not too heavy and still good and stiff. If you feel the need for the Ultimate hood, I have made full CF and honeycomb vacuum bagged units (4.5 lbs and STIFF).
The Deck lids are available in either Fiberglass or Carbon. There is just not enough air going over it to collapse it.
The Carbon fiber pieces are available either prepped for paint or UV clear coated to show off the material.
